| Vmath Meets Criteria for Response to Intervention | |
Response to Intervention (RTI) is the practice of providing scientifically-based, high-quality instruction and progress monitoring to struggling readers. Vmath incorporates a multi-tiered approach to address academic difficulties for all students, reducing referrals to special education. Targeted Intervention![]() Daily lessons provide explicit instruction: the teacher models the skill, allows group practice, and individual practice with corrective feedback. Research unequivocally recommends this instructional model for at-risk students. |

| Vmath has helped prevent special education referrals, especially where school-wide implementation is happening, like at Coldwater Elementary. There is an alternative to referring students now, and we see students progressing with math skills. Teachers in the past have referred because they were not progressing in their core curriculum. Now, teachers ensure that students are participating in intervention, which is delivered by special education, regular education, and Title I teachers. This team approach has had a great impact. | |
