| Effective Measurement Tools |
Voyager Passport incorporates a robust, comprehensive assessment system that includes Vital Indicators of Progress (VIP) measures and curriculum-embedded assessment tools.
VIP benchmarks and progress monitoring measures provide the critical information teachers need to determine if students are responding to intervention. Individual VIP assessment scores are input into the VPORT® Data Management System which produces student, class, school, and district level reports.
Adventure Checkpoints, weekly criterion-referenced assessments, provide teachers with additional information to inform instructional decision making. Voyager Passport also includes student self-assessment features. |

| VIP Assessment & Progress Monitoring |
|
The Vital Indicators of Progress (VIP) targets alphabet knowledge, phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. The VIP assessment system is completely equivalent to the DIBELS developed by Drs. Roland Good and Ruth Kaminiski and colleagues at the University of Oregon based on the work of Deno (1985).
The VIP system provides standardized measures at three benchmarks to assess students' progress throughout the school year. Results for the VIP benchmarks identify a student as struggling, emerging, or on-track based on those goals. In between benchmarks, VIP measures can be used to monitor student progress as often as once a week. |

| Adventure Checkpoints |
|
Lessons 5 and 10 in each Adventure provide Adventure Checkpoints, opportunities to quickly assess students' proficiency with the skills and strategies taught in the preceding lessons.
Students who demonstrate proficiency are directed to a menu of independent activities to complete, while a smaller subset of students are provided additional opportunities to learn the content through targeted reteaching activities and practice.
Adventure Checkpoints are made up of Quick Checks, focused primarily on phonic elements and sight words, Vocabulary Checks, and Comprehension Checks. |

| Student Self-Regulation |
|
| Student self-regulation plays an important role in the growth of learners. When students are aware of important benchmarks, they realize it is within their power to achieve specific goals.
This reinforces their intrinsic motivation and often accelerates learning. Voyager Passport provides opportunities for students to chart their growth, monitor their own progress, and assume responsibility for learning. |
