Voyager Expanded Learning's Vmath Taking Quantile Measures National
Leading Intervention Provider and MetaMetrics Extend Partnership to Allow Educators Across the Country to Align Mathematics Instruction With The Quantile Framework for Mathematics
San Antonio, TX., Lexile National Conference & Quantile Symposium, June 18, 2008 - MetaMetrics® Inc. and Voyager Expanded Learning® announced today that the national edition of Voyager's Vmath® intervention program will be integrated with The Quantile Framework® for Mathematics.
"Vmath with Quantile measures has been so successful in Texas that it is only natural to roll out the program nationally," said Ron Klausner, president, Voyager Expanded Learning. "Now educators nationwide will be able to use Quantile measures to assess students' needs and track their progress to help them achieve state standards."
Vmath accelerates the mathematics achievement of struggling students by building on and reinforcing key concepts, skills and strategies of each state's mathematics standards. Beginning in the 2008-2009 school year, teachers who use Vmath Levels G, H and I will be able to link the Vmath teacher-led instruction and computer-assisted practice with informative progress assessments powered by the Quantile Framework. Teachers will use the assessment results to analyze students' mathematics achievement and differentiate Vmath instruction to meet their learning needs.
The Quantile Framework uses a common, developmental scale to measure student mathematics achievement, the difficulty of mathematical skills and concepts, and the materials for teaching mathematics. By placing the teaching materials and student achievement on the same scale, Quantile measures enable teachers to describe which mathematical skills and concepts a student is ready to learn and those that require additional instruction. Then, students can be matched with the resources that meet their learning needs.
"We are excited about expanding our collaboration with Voyager Expanded Learning," said MetaMetrics President Malbert Smith III, Ph.D. "Voyager's Vmath intervention program already has helped countless students in Texas improve their mathematics abilities. With the integration of Quantile measures into Vmath's national edition, it's gratifying to consider how many more educators will have access to these powerful tools for differentiating mathematics instruction and ensuring all students are on track for meeting state standards."
